Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking has grown into a huge sport over the last 40 plus years all around the world and of course here in the UK. With the well known story of the Clunkers and the Californian Scene running in parallel with the Rough Stuff Fellowship the sport has evolved hugely, from fully rigid, to hardtails with front suspension through to full suspension rigs and now even e-MTBs  - although its still all about having fun on your bike offroad.

For many years 26inch Wheeled MTB was the dominant standard in the sport,  around approx mid 2000s 29ers became the new kid on the block (although industry pioneers like Gary Fisher were experimenting with these in very  late 1990s) before the major manufacturers settled on 27.5inch wheels being the technology of choice on new bikes from approx 2013 onwards. In reality major manufacturers push out new models in 27.5inch and 29inch wheel standards because different crowds of people enjoy the different benefits they bring. Its sometimes complicated a little more by differing wheel standards with boost width axles for example and a new generation of gearing systems. We recognise this at boingbiking.com and we also cater to the significant 26inch MTB community that still exists - there are thousands of those bikes still out there and they need tyres and tubes and wheel spares for the forseeable.
